Vegan Food & Living is the UK’s leading vegan content brand, with a mission to provide the vegan community with the best recipe inspiration, health and nutrition articles, ethical features and exciting product news.

We’re looking for a full-time Digital Assistant for Vegan Food & Living to help grow and maintain our audience.

Vegan Food & Living is not just a magazine; it’s also a website, numerous social channels and a podcast. We communicate to our audience via these channels, and also via e-newsletters.

We’re recruiting for a Digital Assistant to join the growing digital team.

We are happy to consider remote working, although the Vegan Food & Living office is based in Bath, so the Digital Assistant would be required to attend regular in person meetings once the team is back working in the office.

As the internet never stops and we need to be a 7-day a week vegan news broadcaster, we will require our new Digital Assistant to work Saturday and Sunday, then take their two days off during the traditional working week.

Job description
The Digital Assistant will help the digital team with tasks across the board. They will be a champion for our social media presence, posting content across all platforms and developing new content streams.

The successful applicant will need an eye for news as the job also includes writing engaging articles and news pieces for our website, which will be broadcast across our channels.

The Digital Assistant will also be responsible for uploading articles to the website by our freelance writing team, applying SEO best practice and then publishing them.

The Digital Assistant will also help with back end SEO on the site, keeping on top of broken links and general site health.

The Digital Assistant needs to be a quick worker, happy to pick up new skills on the fly, and able to think out of the box.

Responsibilities

  • Writing engaging pieces for web from press releases and researching other stories
  • Formatting articles for web and applying SEO rules
  • Selecting appropriate images and making sure they’re fit for web
  • Looking after VFL’s social media channels, coming up with content ideas and campaigns, keeping on top of algorithm changes and answering queries from our audience
  • Helping to keep on top of back end of site admin, checking for broken links, slow loading pages etc

Candidate requirements

  • Ability to pick up new digital skills quickly
  • Ability to write quickly and concisely
  • Excellent grasp of grammar and a wide vocabulary
  • Ability to work in a team, reporting to multiple members of staff and completing tasks to deadline
  • An interest in veganism

Preferable skills and interests

  • Basic knowledge of SEO and appropriate writing for web
  • Experience using social media for business, operating Facebook Creator Studio, Hootsuite or equivalent to schedule posts and review insights
  • Basic knowledge of imagery for web, including resizing imagery and creating graphics when needed
  • Photoshop and InDesign
