Anthem Publishing completes sale of music-making titles

Anthem has now completed the sale of its music-making titles, MusicTech and The Guitar Magazine along with associated websites, specials and events, to BandLab UK Ltd. All staff have transferred with the brands and remain based in Bath using Anthem’s central services for functions such as production, circulation and subscription marketing during a transitional services period.

Commenting on the sale, CEO Jon Bickley said: “As our very first title, MusicTech has a special place in our hearts here at Anthem, while eight years of our ownership have seen The Guitar Magazine reinvent itself as an award-winning, high quality magazine and website. We’ve been proud that both titles have encouraged people around the world in their love of music creation, recording and more, and we’re pleased that BandLab Technologies will now take the brands forward in the next stage of their evolution.”

Anthem remains one of the UK’s leading publishers of music-listening magazines with regular titles, including Classic Pop and Long Live Vinyl, joined in 2018 by new series The Elvis Years and The Bowie Years as well as a zeitgeisty special about K-pop superstars BTS. Anthem also expanded its mindful living portfolio this year with the launch of Simply Vegan and the purchase of Women’s Running to join market-leading titles Vegan Food & Living, Gluten-Free Heaven, Food Heaven, Ultimate Dot 2 Dot and Colouring Heaven.
